PHNOM PENH: The Government of Australia has provided an estimated US $80.8 million to Cambodia through development programs in 2022-2023, according to a press release issued by the Australian Embassy in Cambodia on Thursday, 3 November.

The press release added that the Australian Government intends to boost Official Development Assistance (ODA) to Southeast Asia by providing an additional US $470 million over the next four years.

This assistance will help to improve Southeast Asia’s resilience and sovereignty through support for quality infrastructure, regional security and humanitarian assistance in times of crisis.

“We will support the region’s economic recovery from the pandemic and ongoing economic prosperity through support for women’s economic empowerment, human resources, food security and increased trade and investment,” stated the press release, adding that deepening engagement with Southeast Asia is Australia’s top priority.
